How does a VFD work to save energy and money?
6:29
How does a variable frequency drive, VFD, save energy and save you money? At Eaton's Power Systems Experience Center (PSEC) we explain how VFDs work and save energy and money with an air flow demo and show Active Energy Control DG-1 drives for more savings. With this demonstration, we show a direct comparison of the power or kW used on an air handling blower motor across the line (ATL) and the same blower motor on a VFD. It is easy to see how the energy savings is significant on induction motors. Traditional VFD's save significant energy using a constant volts per Hertz ratio but Eaton's drives with active energy control can save even more energy.
