CT-3-Understanding the Differences between NEMA and IEC
9:44
NEMA provides a forum for companies to develop technical standards to promote safe and effective design, installation and use of electrical products. It consists of 450 member companies in the US including Eaton. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) sets regional standards for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. These standards are generally followed outside the US and Canada. Unlike NEMA, IEC does not specify load classes. In the IEC specifications, the strength can be described as clear, OK, or unclear. 0:40 NEMA standards 1:09 VE-1 and VE-2 standards for cable tray 2:22 NENA load classes 3:01 NEMA Load tests 4:21 IEC standards 4:34 IEC strength categories 5:21 IEC load testing 5:57 IEC Impact testing 6:44 NEMA installation guidelines 8:00 Summary graph 8:30 Applications 9:44 Review
