Eaton Power NTCs for Inrush Current Limiting
1:07
0:00 - Intro 0:21 - Features 0:39 - Specs Eaton’s Bussmann Series of Power NTC thermistors provide efficient and cost-effective protection against inrush current, preventing nuisance tripping of overcurrent protection devices and damage of downstream components in power supplies, motor control, lighting, and many other applications. Power NTC thermistors have a high initial resistance that limits inrush currents at turn on or startup. During continuous operation, the device heats up and transitions to a negligible resistance, resulting in a more efficient current limiting solution than large, fixed resistors and a simpler design than active components. Eaton ICL NTCs feature an epoxy sealed radial NTC thermistor in disc sizes from 7 to 28 millimeters with various lead styles. The inrush current limiters are available with zero power resistance as low as 0.5 ohms, current ratings up to 22 amps, and rated operating temperatures as high as 200 degrees Celsius, providing designers options to address a wide range of applications.
