EV fuses from Eaton
1:34
The batteries in xEVs are connected to more than just the electric motor, and the voltage and capacity of these batteries is rising to meet customer demands. From fast chargers and on-board chargers to heaters, AC compressors, PDUs, and DC to DC converters, the batteries are connected to many different systems throughout the vehicle. These circuits all require cost effective and highly reliable fuses that are coordinated with other protection components in downstream circuits. Designers are also faced with the need for smaller components to fit in tighter spaces. Eaton Electronics offers a broad range of 10, and 14 millimeter diameter, high voltage automotive fuses, with a wide range of voltage and current options to meet different power requirements. These leverage Eaton’s deep expertise and heritage in automotive applications to provide high reliability with multiple termination options. Our 10 x 38 millimeter fuses with increased breaking capacity, additional voltage options, and extended current ratings, providing enhanced performance in the size that traditionally used for EVs. Our 10 x 32 millimeter fuses match or exceed the capabilities of many existing 10 x 38 millimeter fuses, but a shorter body that provides a higher power density solution for space-limited designs. Eaton 14 millimeter fuses offer a voltage range up to 500 volts AC and 1000 volts DC with current ratings up to 80 amps in a more compact footprint than 51mm long fuses. These can be used in the high power AC input or DC output of on-board chargers and virtually any other passenger and commercial xEV application.

What are film capacitors?
1:57
Metallized polypropylene film capacitors use a polypropylene dielectric with a thin layer of metal deposited on it. This film is then wound around a core, leads are attached, and the capacitor is enclosed in a plastic case.
