Bypass isolation transfer switch basics: what it does and how it operates | Eaton PSEC
12:50
Bypass isolation transfer switches allow loads to be energized even during maintenance of the automatic transfer switch (ATS) compartment. Power is directed through the automatic bypass switch allowing the ATS can be isolated for service and testing. Bypass isolation transfer switches are commonly used in hospitals, data centers, and industrial facilities that have mission critical processes and systems. Charlie Hume, ATS Product Manager, demonstrates how a bypass isolation transfer switch operates and the sequence for different modes of operation. Follow along as Charlie walks us through: • Switching the ATS between source 1 and source 2 • How to enable the bypass isolation switch • The steps to disconnecting an automatic transfer switch for maintenance • Racking the ATS on and off the stabs • Ways of servicing the control power cabinet Learn how to meet healthcare facilities essential electrical system (EES) performance requirements with an automatic transfer switch: https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/eaton/products/low-voltage-power-distribution-controls-systems/automatic-transfer-switches/eaton-automatic-transfer-switch-whitepaper-wp140003en.pdf Also, see Eaton’s range of automatic transfer switches: https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/catalog/low-voltage-power-distribution-controls-systems/bypass-isolation-contactor-type-automatic-transfer-switches.html Thank you for watching one of our many educational videos on the topic of power systems.
