Battery energy storage system (BESS) for EV charging applications | Eaton PSEC
7:20
A battery energy storage system (BESS) is an energy storage solution that allows facilities to store power and use it on demand. Essentially, the BESS is a series of batteries, inverters and a battery management system that charges the batteries from the electrical grid or renewables like solar and wind generation. The stored energy in the batteries can then be used when needed, such as peak shaving, during power outages, or for load balancing. In the video Reena Patel, Energy Transition Application Engineer, illustrates how the BESS operates and performs during peak shaving. Also, how the BESS can be used for EV charging, specifically for DC fast charging and load balancing. Reena explains how Eaton offers a complete BESS and DC fast charger solution that includes designing, supplying, and servicing the system. Thank you for watching one of our many educational videos on the topic of power systems.
